The Resilience Hub

The Resilience Hub is a permaculture research institute in the Portland, Maine area.  I love their name, and it is important to remember that the health and resiliency of our local communities depends upon educational projects such as these.  They have a complete website, with projects that they are involved in, services and workshops.  Of considerable interest is their projects page, which can be found here.  It looks like they are really involved in some great work!

Here is an excerpt from their page:

The Resilience Hub is:

A collaborative non-profit organization based in Portland, Maine that aims to increase local resilience.

We do this by:

Running and sponsoring local resilience-building projects

Offering services to support communities build resilience

Coordinating educational events (workshops, courses, skill-shares, guest speakers, work parties, field trips)

They also feature EDAP’s:

EDAPs (Energy Descent Action Plans)

The Resilience Hub is available to facilitate your community’s efforts at creating a vibrant and healthy future using less fossil fuels than it does today.  This is called creative energy descent and creating an Energy Descent Action Plan (EDAP) is a great way to chart your course.

peak oil - we are here“An Energy Descent Action Plan (EDAP) is a local plan for dealing with Peak Oil.  It goes well beyond issues of energy supply, to look at across-the-board creative adaptations in the realms of health, education, economy and much more.  An EDAP is a way to think ahead, to plan in an integrated, multidisciplinary way, to provide direction to local government, decision makers, groups and individuals with an interest in making the place they live into a vibrant and viable community in a post-carbon era.” – Adam Fenderson
